On the southeastern edge of the historic Recoleta district lies the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires. This area is famous for its streets lined with grand French architecture and its eponymous cemetery, where selfie-hunters congregate near the grave of Eva Perón.
In addition to being home to some of the city’s wealthiest residents, the area boasts a plethora of cafés and upscale stores, including the adjacent Patio Bullrich, which houses international luxury brands. Thankfully, the marvels of contemporary glazing make the eight-lane, tree-lined avenue that bisects the city to the west of the Four Seasons audible. Views from the hotel’s back yard reveal the erect Obelisco de Buenos Aires.
Rooms
A refuge of soft whites and creamy colours of taupe can be found in each of the 139 rooms that make up the main hotel lobby. In order to finish off the relaxing image, mahogany workstations, silk pillows, and striking leather headboards are all included.
There is a selection of bath and shower options, as well as L’Occitane amenities, and the bathrooms are tiled with blue mosaics. Rooms that are considered to be “City-View” are of a reasonable size and offer a view of the densely packed rooftops of Buenos Aires, which are located to the south west.
Upgrade to a ‘Mansión-View’ (9th to 12th floors) to experience the allure of the exquisitely preserved La Mansión, a Beaux-Arts dream consisting of marble pillars and cornicing that appears to be reduced to dolls home dimensions in the midst of the towering urban landscape.
For a truly unique experience, each of the seven suites at La Mansión has been exquisitely designed in the traditional French manner. Antiques that have been meticulously selected and wallpaper made of Toile de Jouy have been used to enhance the historic atmosphere.
Services
In the popular Cielo Spa, guests have the opportunity to select from a variety of specialised treatments after spending the day immersed in the bustle of one of the most populous cities in South America. These treatments include wine massages, a pummelling backrub, and the beat of an Argentine Tango, the latter of which made for a wonderfully stirring start to the evening.
Alternately, the hotel’s adjoining La Mansión, which is home to seven luxurious suites, can be admired from the comfort of the heated outdoor pool, which provides a great vantage point.
The excellent service that the group is known for is very much in evidence, from the receptionists to the housekeepers and bartenders to the waiting staff. An evening of tango dancing at a milonga that is frequented by hot-stepping locals is highly recommended by the concierge team, who deserve praise for their recommendation.
