Is it safe to use my phone in public?

< 1 min read

Yes, but with some caution. Buenos Aires is generally safe for tourists, but petty theft like pickpocketing or snatching phones can happen, especially in crowded areas.

  • Avoid flashing expensive phones in busy streets, markets, and public transport.

  • Keep your phone in a front pocket, crossbody bag, or zipped backpack.

  • Be extra cautious in La Boca, Once, Constitución stations, and during crowded events or demonstrations.

  • Using your phone discreetly for maps, photos, or calls is fine; just stay aware of your surroundings.

  • In cafés, restaurants, and taxis, it’s usually safe, but don’t leave your phone unattended.
